I have this car on consignment from a gentleman that bought this car several years ago with the intent of restoring this much desired collectible to it's original look, but like so many projects that get started, never finished. He is now retiring and has decided to sell this beauty and let someone else enjoy owning it and 'tinkering' with the restoration process.
When He first purchased this car in November of 1989, the car had 51,812 miles on it. The car now has 68,835 miles, showing on the odometer, so it has been driven less than 1,000 miles per year, since my client has owned this classic...AND....it has been in a garage the whole time to boot. Every State Inspection Sticker since my client has owned this vehicle is in the glove compartment, as well as all of the repair tickets, and maintainence items, he has had done.
When he bought the car it was silver, and the paint had faded (as so many do). So he had it painted a beautiful yellow, which is actually a Corvette color, but it really makes the car look GREAT...as you can see from the pictures.
Mechanically this car is sound, NO RUST...can be found, which I understand is a problem sometimes with these models. The A/C does not work, according to my client it never did and he never had it fixed.
I will admit, there are a few 'flaws' that need to be addressed to make the car pristine, such as; the bumpers are 'pitted' with teeny little rust bubbles, which is an easy fix. The interior would need some attention (carpet replaced) and the upholstery is in need of some TLC. ALL of which can be done at a reasonable cost...and, any money spent on this legendary vehicle would only enhance the value .
Prior to accepting this classic for consignment, I did a little research and in the past these models have sold for as much as $26,000 !!
You can buy this one for a lot less...., PLUS...since this vehicle is in basically good condition...you can have the fun of driving it while you are doing the restoration. The service manual for this vehicle comes with it...to make your job easier.
While having this car on our lot I have had quite a few people stop by for a 'peek', and heard all kinds of stories about when they used to own one and how much fun they were to drive, etc. And "if I had the money"...Yada Yada...according to one gentleman....this one of only a few cars of this vintage that the original parts are still available...AND...Nissan will actually rebuild the car for you...of course, I'm only repeating what was told to me...( I'm sure I will get some emails on that one ) :-)
As you know, the Datsun 240Z was introduced in America to compete with much more expensive sports cars and BOY...did it ever...the innovative body design, the peppy 151 HP engine with 146 lbs of torque gets this baby from Zero to 60 in eight seconds...This car caught the fancy of of the American sport car enthusiast that started a love affair with 'the Z car' that continues today...here is your opportunity to own a true piece of American Auto History....
