1968 Austin 1275 Mk II Mini

Slide Windows
Rod Change Gear Box w/1275 Motor
Original Vancouver Plimley Car
Hydrolastic Suspension

Offered for your consideration, is a 1969 Mk II mini originally sold by Plimley in Vancouver, BC. A wonderfully redone mini, it is a Mk II with sliding windows, three guage dash pod, complete and original engine compartment, optional heater and blower, and retains the very unique and rare Hydrolastic suspension. A nicely presented Mini that would show very well in any British field meet.

Paint & Body

The Old English white paint is in very good condition and retains gloss and luster. There is no rust or any indications of it in the body work. The chrome is either new or in nice original condition. All glass is in very good condition however the windscreen has some scratch from the wiper on the passenger side. All gaps are reasonable and good for mini standards. The Mk I type slider windows, and flip down door handles, and horizontal grill give this mini the very classic look of the original mini.

Interior

The interior has been redone with the seats recovered and the carpets and underlayment all replaced. The dash is original and the covering is lifting slightly on the driver side. All the trim is in very nice condition. Headliner is very nice. It has not been modified and completely retains the simple and honest feeling of an original mini. The optional high volume heater blower is a rare and valued addition.

Engine & Transmission

A 1275 motor with the correct intake and air filter setup runs out wonderfully and sounds great. Everything works and has been redone. A very nicely presented engine compartment. The engine is coupled to a later rod change gearbox which improves shifting and serviceability.

The Bottom Side

This mini retains its Hydrolastic suspension, which is rare. A fun option, the Hydrolastic was routinely removed and replaced in similarly optioned minis. It is rare and a joy to see that this mini has retained this original and unique suspension system. The brakes are all good and function as they should. This is not an S model, so the brakes are drum all the way round. No rust on the floor pans and no indications of repair. New Superlite wheels installed by us set off the look of this classic mini. The original steel rims and wheel covers are included in the sale.

An original and unique Mk II mini that has all the desired attributes of the classic mini. An appreciating collectable, these minis are a good investment and are a blast to drive. Hard to find unmolested, these minis are becoming quite rare.
