Up for auction from NAMCmopar: We have this good looking Volkswagen Double Door Transporter, originally purchased at Riviera Motors in downtown Portland Oregon by the father of current owner. This bus has only had two owners and has been parked inside for it's whole life.
VDO tachometer, VDO voltmeter,
1600 Dual Port (AE),
Heavy duty sway bars Front and Rear,
Petronix in a 009,
Gene Berg swivel feet valve adjusters,
aluminum valve covers,
adjustable shifter.
Comes with additional goodies such as an extra rebuild steering box, extra stock carb, 4 original stock hubcaps, dealer license frames (Riviera), factory manual and 2 Haynes hard to find parcel racks for under the dash (very rare) as well as other misc. stock parts shown in the photos.
This bus was in a traffic accident back in 1985 and sat for 12 years waiting to be restored. The accident happened only 6 months after the engine was completely rebuilt. The engine runs very well! This van is quiet and reliable. Restoration was a family project and took quite a while, but completed with care. One of the photos included shows small orange arrows pointing out the refabricated area, the passenger slider door has been replaced with another original slide door to include window (originally there was no window on the doors) Behind the passenger front seat, on one of the photos, you can see a weld about 5 inches from door. This is the only visible indication of previous work. The replacement involved the body area from lower passenger door, up to the latch area on slider door, over to the back side of door frame. Work was completed well but still needs some manipulation and finishing. Other body work on this van: front turn signals are shaved and hidden inside the front grille for a cleaner look. Passenger side body panel behind the slide door had a small window that has been removed and welded in. There is no other major damage. Most of this vehicle is original paint that has been touched up to fix parking lot, shopping cart dings. Original owner installed (at one time) sky lights in top of cab that have since been removed and welded in. There is a hole drilled for antenna in cab roof. Antenna is removed. Van had a serious sound system that has also been removed. This bus has provisions for 2nd (additional) battery to power an advanced sound system. Looking into the engine compartment, you see it is very clean. The side windows are tinted with a simple to install film and can be easily removed. The interior is very nice! CLEAN! The back area has storage flat shelf, big enough to sleep in! What a fun van! Double doors is a rare and fun option. Spare tire is original, plastic spare tire cover in excellent condition. H4 headlight lamps and pleasing black and grey interior along with black rubber matts and dark grey foam for sound deadening along the roof and walls. Dark Grey fabric covers the bed/storage deck. All doors open and close smooth.
Windshield looks new, so we think it was replaced at time of restoration. We are providing alot of photos.
