If you are looking for a nice Chevelle Project drag car, you've just found it!
Up for auction is a 1970 Chevelle. This is a drag car. Has been for years and years. This is a project roller. Car has Fiberglass fenders, front bumper, pin on hood, rear bumper and pin on trunk lid. Car has a custom made aluminum rad support done years ago. Has a newer master cylinder, a new from A.R.T. Racing Products Aluminum Dash that needs to be installed. It has a WolfeRace craft Tubular rear suspension kit with the upper Spherical bearings, Heavy duty Heims, all spacers and bolts. This is a great rear suspension kit for a Hi Powered Chevelle. New Monroe rear shocks (not the red ones in the pics), Heavy duty Moog coils. This car has a brand new 12 bolt setup with a Moser spool and axles and 4.88 Richmond gears, Moser C-Clip kit, and long ½ inch studs. All glass is Lexan and needs to be replaced. You can use the existing panels as templates for the new. I have all the old lexan windows for patterns, very simple to cut out. Car has a single high back Plastic seat. Also had a Hurst Quarter stick shifter inside for a glide. The Steering column has been lightened. I have a Brand New in the box S&W 14 point Mild Steel roll cage kit with window net and window net mounting kit for it. You can see in some of the pics the floor has been cut out around where each point of the cage would go. This car had an 8 point in it but that was removed to go with a 14pt cage. This will stiffen the car up to put some power to it without flexing. My intention here was to set it up with an 800 horsepower big block. The doors have been hollowed out, aluminum panels installed, and an Ed Quay window kit installed. Car has a 10 gallon fuel cell in the trunk, needs mounting. Floors are good, see pics. There are holes cut out for the cage install. Quarters are mudded up. See pics. Roof is good. Car has a rear seat bulkhead installed as per NHRA regulations. Has the long front wheel studs installed. No wiring at all on the car. NO TITLE NO TITLE NO TITLE. Has manual steering. Has Moroso front springs and 90/10 Shocks up front. The frame is in good shape, ready to build on. Front suspension is all there and working. I have Stainless brake lines you can use for it as well. New blue Russell fuel line included (thats that blue spiral thing sticking out the front in the one picture, ha!)The axle setup is all 33 Spline from Moser. The rear suspension kit is tubluar Chrome moly with USA made Heims. Very heavy duty.
The quarters are not that bad, You could grind out the mud and run them until you can replace or re-work them. You can fit up to a 10 inch wide rim on this car.
The trunk has dual battery mounts.
This is a great opportunity to get setup in a nice Chevelle drag car. A great project.
This was a drag car that has been in my family for years. This car has run in the high 9’s low 10’s in the quarter for many years. It was a show car with Porsche Gaurds Red paint at one time. Here is a great project car for sale. I was going to complete this car and make it a 9 second footbrake car, but time and money have run out for me. I have $2000 in the body, $1800 in the 12 bolt, $550 in the rear suspension, and $375 in the S&W cage kit. Plus a couple hundred in extras.
