1965 Datsun 1500
Chassis # SPL 310 10316
In 1961 the Datsun 1500 Roadster SPL-310 was launched in Japan, just several months before the MGB. The Fairlady was nicknamed in the US market by Nissan president Kawamata, who had seen the musical, "My Fair Lady," while visiting America.
This example is one of the late changeover models that were modified by Datsun before releasing the 1600 Sports SPL-311. Changes to the 1500 were made to battery placement, improvements to the soft top and the dashboard. They also removed the third seat making more leg room for the front occupants.
Just under 7000 of the 1500s were made.
This is a mostly complete and intact vehicle which could serve as a great restoration project. Most mechanisms are original and present along with vintage-period rubber mats.
Chassis # SPL-310 10316 has been in storage for a number of years and no attempts to start it have been made.
The brakes are currently not working but the emergency brake is operational.
