Up for auction is a former District of Columbia Army National Guard M818 with naturally aspirated Cummins diesel motor that is also equipped with the desirable hardtop and 20,000 lb. winch.  Please click here to view many additional pictures of this truck; the last link in this series is a video so you can hear the motor purrrrr.

I personally topped off all fluids, greased all grease fittings, and replaced the fuel filter.  The entire electrical system, headlights, tail lights, directional lights, all gauges, and horn work as designed.  I tightened all of the belts.  The battery charging system works properly, the motor runs at its correct operating temperature, the motor oil pressure is great and the compressed air system builds and holds air pressure as designed.  I went through all of the compressed air fittings so there are no air leaks.  I installed brand new wiper blades and both wiper motors work great.  All 11 each 1100x20 NDCC Titan T-Hawk 373 tires are very new and weather-check free; the spare is brand new, the eight rears are nearly new, and the fronts have approximately 40% tread remaining.  All glass is in tact and unbroken, the door windows go up and down fine, and the doors are in good adjustment and open and close just fine, but could use internal lubrication.

The government clearly put lots of money in this truck before it was sold as the motor appears to have extremely low hours since it was rebuilt (the paint isn’t even burnt off of the brackets that hold the exhaust manifold to the motor heads).  The muffler, J-pipe, and stack are like new (most of the rust-free clean metal is still showing on the expensive J-pipe).  All belts are brand new.   This truck includes four each new and correct 6TL batteries.  The new style Holland fifth wheel is like new.  The clutch feels very good and works fine.  The brakes work completely as designed and feel very responsive (like, they’ll put you through the windshield responsive).  All sheet metal is straight with only a few small rust spots.

You can see the gauges, but I won’t even speculate hours and miles as (a) you don’t really know if the gauges are accurate and (b) the gauges seldom accurately depict the true hours and miles on all driveline components.  I am not sure as to the year of this truck.

When I purchased the truck the transfer case shift linkage was out of adjustment and the air lines for the sprag actuator where hooked up backwards.  After painstaking troubleshooting, I have made all necessary corrections and the transfer case now shifts effortlessly into hi and low range and the sprag works perfectly.

The right front inner axle seal and a seal on the transfer case do have slow leaks.  The motor runs great, but might be sucking air into the system somewhere.  This is only evident at start up as the motor appears to lose prime when sitting for a long time.  The winch driveshaft is missing.

There is approximately 5 gallons of diesel fuel in each fuel tank so that the buyer has enough fuel to get the truck loaded on to the shipper’s low-boy or step-deck trailer.  I do have access to very competitive shipping rates considering today’s diesel fuel prices.

I drove this truck 30 miles last Sunday and it drives superb!  The brakes will put you through the windsheild.  I now have the SF97 in hand!  I will also provide a bill of sale.  As always, all government rules apply and this truck will only be sold to US Citizens and the truck must stay in the USA.  Cash, check, wire transfer, it really doesn’t matter to me so long as the buyer knows that this truck, or anything else I sell, isn’t leaving my possession until it’s paid for in full.
