This is a beautiful project boat! She will need a lot of work to get her restored. She needs several new fasteners, several new planks, as well as some sistered frames.
With the right attention, she could be the pride of your home fleet.
She has elegant, traditional lines, and loads of beautiful hardware. She has a large cockpit with room for six.
Below, her cabin has bunks on either side, making her a good boat for short overnight cruises, though she is primarily a day sailor. Her interior needs plenty of work to really bring her out.
Her mast seems to be in very good shape, with all running and standing rigging usable. It will need to be stripped and re varnished.
She was appraised last fall at over $13,000. We have a copy of the appraisal. The appraiser’s recommendations include:
Sister cracked frames
Secure battery and wiring
Repair garboard and deadwood sections that are soft
Our observations:
Though her fasteners are listed as bronze, I noted many iron stains in the interior (see photos).
While most of her hardware is traditional, there are many new blocks installed that made her more functional, but may take away from her traditional look.
Her Rudder will most likely need to be rebuilt.
The mount for the hand crank to raise and lower the centerboard has lifted off of her mount. It will need to be fixed.
There are several other projects that I do not consider myself expert enough to call. This boat is at auction for somebody who would like to restore a boat. The money you will save will go into the restoration of this great little boat.
Please feel free to look at this boat before bidding. She is located in Point Judith RI.

Terms of Sale
Because this boat was donated, it is part of our three year charter program. At the end of the three year charter period, the high bidder has the exclusive option to purchase the boat. All charter payments go towards the purchase price of the boat. The purchase price will be determined by the high bid of this auction. 90% of the winning bid will cover the three year charter period and will be due at the signing of the charter agreement. The remaining 10% balance of the high bid will be due at the termination of the charter should the winning bidder exercise the option to purchase the boat at the end of three years. The lease may be transferred or sold by the charterer during that three year period, but we still hold the title.
Therefore, our buyers pay 90% of the full price for, and have full and exclusive use of, the boat during the three year charter period. During the charter, the boat will be registered by us for the winning bidder. The winning bidder will be responsible for the cost of registering and insuring the boat. There are no restrictions on where the boat is berthed.
For example, a bidder bids $20,000 and he wins the auction at $20,000. He then pays Block Island Maritime Funding 90% of the selling price ($18,000) and we hold the title for 3 years. For those 3 years, the boat is officially chartered to the high bidder. During which time he can operate, repair, or restore the boat at his own expense. At the end of 3 years, he can pay us the remaining 10% ($2,000) and the title to the boat will be transferred.
Please don't hesitate to contact us about our charter program and to read a blank copy of our charter/purchase agreement, visit our eBay page by clicking on the red "me" next to our feedback score.

SECOND CHANCE OFFERS: We've been having a problem with people offering fraudulent second chance offers after the auction is over. Anyone bidding may receive what looks like a legitimate offer for a second chance after the auction is over but if it doesn't have my email address (ebay@blockislandmaritime.com) then it didn't come from us. Please report all fraudulent second chance offers to eBay. If the second chance offer does come from the above, it is real. The best thing to do is to contact us via ebay messages to confirm. We usually check our messages twice a day.
