Item Description

Please note that this auction is a rebuild service performed to restore your existing malfunctioning Bosch ABS module.    No trip to the dealer, computer tools or VAG COM needed.  Module automatically resets itself upon installation!

Please note that you will have to send your module to the address below for rebuilding.  You are not buying a physical replacement part.  You can still drive your car in almost every instance while the EBTCM is being rebuilt.

"As an ASE Master Auto Tech I will only work with the highest quality parts and services.  I don't know of anyone else that would have taken the time necessary, and done such high quality work to repair the extensive damage causesd by "That other company".  If you need an ABS module rebuilt, this is the place to go.  You may find someone else to do it cheaper but take it from me, you will wish you spent the few dollars more to get the expert service.... "

Long term reliability is part of having the greatest semiconductor experience and possession of unparalleled rework equipment specific to the Bosch 5.3i series unit.  We pioneered and perfected the only rebuild technique that works flawlessly time after time.  If we are not able to restore your 5.3i, then it simply cannot be rebuilt at this time by anybody.... period!  In addition, we are the ONLY Bosch 5.3i rebuilder with in house test platforms to verify proper module operation and proper code reset before shipping!

We have moved into a brand new facility to better serve our growing customer base.  Please feel free to contact us toll free 1-888-892-0764 if you have any questions regarding this rebuild service.  A new phone system is being installed so our appologies if difficulty getting through.  If you get a recording, please try again as existing lines are busy.  Shipping instructions are at the bottom of the auction description.  Thanks!

The Bosch 5, 5.3, 5.3i family of controllers are of the latest design of ABS controller to enter the market.  Introduced in 1997; they have become a very popular ABS system in wide range of vehicles from high end sports cars, lightest 2WD trucks to heavy duty chassis 4X4's.  The advantage of this little marvel is dramatically reduced weight when compared to earlier ABS systems with very high processing speed.  They are also quieter to the driver with less brake pedal vibration during ABS braking.

The tiny size of the 5.3 is possible due to its peculiar construction.  Instead of fiberglass printed circuit boards; micro-hybrid technology with multiple processor concept is employed.  The chips are directly installed on a ceramic substrate.  The photo below with the quarter is an example of such technology.  This method of electronic construction makes repair of these controllers extremely difficult.

Many advertised rebuilt units offered on the retail market are merely working units pulled from wrecked vehicles.  Housings have been cleaned and then put in new cartons.  The remaining lifespan of OEM circuitry may be very limited.  ModuleMaster has addressed the design flaw in these units to assure a long lasting rebuild.

If the active traction control and/or "ABS" light(s) are on; your dollar prohibitive ABS troubles can finally be taken care of once and for all at a fraction of the replacement cost.  Some vehicles using this system are costing their owners $1200-$2400.00 replacement cost!!

This repair is also permanent - definitely exceeding original design expectations. It is not to be misunderstood as a quick-fix "patch" or other temporary type of repair. The replacement parts selected are significantly better and costly than the OEM originals. This is necessary to avoid any future recurring problems.

There are three primary components of your Bosch 5.3 ABS unit as indicated in the diagram below.  The BPMV (Brake Pressure Modulator Valve) and the EBTCM (Electronic Brake Traction Control Module).  The pump motor is part of the BPMV.   The EBTCM is a separate removable part that is held in position by six Torx T-20 bolts.  The EBTCM will separate easily from the HCU without any brake fluid leakage.  The photo to the right shows two variations of the system, each having their respective EBTCM separated from the BPMV.  The red “caps” are the openings where the brake line pipes are normally connected

The EBTCM is the electronic control unit of your ABS system and is the part you will remove and send to ModuleMaster for repair.  The BPMV stays in the car.  As long as the BPMV is left in the vehicle, you can safely drive your car.  Hydraulic brakes always have 100% power without the electronic module working or even installed.

When the ABS/TCS system has failed (TCS warning lamp on) or EBTCM removed, rear wheels have more opportunity to skid than normal.  This is because the traction control is disabled and rear brakes are stronger than necessary when the car has only 1-2 passengers.  Exercise caution on slippery road conditions under such conditions.

This quality repair service includes the following work performed to your Bosch 5.3 ABS module:

  • Isolation and repair of failure prone power control and serial data communications circuitry. New parts are reinforced to prevent any future failures.
  • Highest quality pure silver conductor applied using advanced computer process control methods for maximum reliability.  Results are significantly superior than original aluminum circuit.
  • “Smart Set” feature during first startup; no diagnostic or programming tools required for setup after installation. Plug it in and go.  Lights out!
  • Modules work perfectly the 1st time every time.  Every module is tested on our our propietary computer controlled test fixture for a hassle free installation every time.  All module history error codes are cleared once the module passes its test prior to shipping.  If for any reason a module continues to fail on our test fixture, it will be returned to you completely assembled with your money back.
  • Exterior of module is thoroughly cleaned to like new cosmetic appearance and to prevent contamination of sensitive interior electronics.
  • After rebuild, module is completely flushed in an electronic safe solvent bath. This removes all debris and contaminants created during rebuild process.
  • 5 year guarantee against unexpected module failure
  • Your guaranteed satisfaction.  Your money will be given back if the module is beyond repair or fails prematurely.  Modules are tested before being shipped back to you.
  • Virtually invisible "intrusion damage" to module during repair process.

All work is guaranteed against identical return problems for 5 years.  Advanced ramped PID and localized thermal process control methods ensure consistent results; avoiding damage to the module itself.  The rebuild work performed should eliminate any future problems with this sophisticated ABS system. Warranty covers cost of parts and labor or money refund.

The controller module (EBTCM) you will have to remove from the vehicle yourself, or have somebody do this for you.  This may require disconnection of the metal brake lines as the EBTCM is often placed in a limited access location.  However, many vehicles do not require brake line disconnection.

ABS performance and safety will not be altered in any manner during the repair process. The safety system is inside of the pump manifold (BPMV) that remains in the vehicle.

Once the unit is re-installed in your vehicle, it will perform an extensive self-diagnostic routine at the first engine start; and forward movement and then turn off the ABS and active traction control (if applicable) warning lamp(s). The ABS system in your vehicle will then be completely restored.

This particular ABS system must have its brake fluid flushed every 2-3 years with new to keep the valves clean and will last virtually forever if done so.  Valvoline SynPower synthetic ABS performance fluid is highly recommended.

When replacing brake pads, NEVER compress the caliper pistons into the “home” position without opening the bleeder screw first.  Being the lowest point of the brake system, debris will accumulate in the caliper cylinder.  When the pistons are pushed back, this debris is forced back into the BPMV.  Same applies for rear calipers or drum brake cylinders.  Chances are very great that the BPMV valves will no longer seat properly afterwards.  Symptoms of BPMV valve failure is consistent overheating/wear of one or more wheel rotors/drum or soft pedal despite proper bleeding.  Sometimes the BPMV can be restored by flushing out old fluid and cycling ABS many times.  Then flush the system 2nd time

Shipping Instructions:

1)  The module is a computer and is sensitive to static electricty.  For maximum protection, wrap the module with aluminum foil or antistatic bag (like used with a new hardrive or computer part for example).

2)  Pack the module securely with bubblewrap or other suitable packing material.

3)  Please include your return mailing address with the module on a piece of paper or index card.  Name, address module is to be shipped to, phone number and email address.

4)  If paying with money order, make money order out to Gavin Curtis or Circuit Solutions.  Wal-Mart or post office money orders are easiest to aquire.  Include the money order in the box with the return mailing address in step #3 above.
