HELLO OUT THERE!!
THE SEASON IS ON!!

Are you looking for a new Nostalgic ride to get your adrenalin flowing??
Well, take a look at this!!

If you are looking for an older front engine dragster, for a larger person, how about this one? Following is a picture collage that allows you to visually walk around and see into this vintage rail dragster. This car is definitely not a project car - it has recently been NSRA certified and it is ready to race for the next three years!
In fact, this car raced at Woodburn, Oregon the July 4th week end and out of 350 cars, it finished in the top four. Why not first??? Well, it had to do with a "driving technique" that was not properly executed. It could have easily finished 1st, but, that is what racing is all about. This car is a winner! To enlarge a picture, please click on the picture.

Here are some details about this dragster that you need to know before you begin your bidding.
- This is an original 1964 front engine dragster that is an ex top Fuel Car.
The car was built in 1964 in Tacoma Washington for "Gentleman" Hank Johnson, who won the 1971 Super Nationals. "Gentleman" Hank Johnson was one of the Northwest's best Fuel racers for almost two decades. Hank began in top Fuelers, then raced both Fuelers and funny cars for a while. Hank Johnson was a contemporary of Jerry Ruth - another Pacific Northwest's top Fuel Racer of the '60's and 70's - and he was racing in the era of Don Prudhomme and others. This car has a HISTORY!
- The chrome molly roll cage is built for a 6 ft driver.
- Powering this rail is a "built" 460 Ford engine that was "built" about 5 years ago. What does "built" mean?
- A great cam
- Forged pistons but the engine is not bored out
- Big valves - 173 exhaust valves and 225 intake valves.
- Ported heads
- Roller rockers, hardened push rods, titanium retainers and stainless valves
- The engine has been blueprinted and balanced and lots, lots more! If you want additional details, send me an email and I will provide the information you want.
- Is the engine still "good?" It certainly is. After about 5 years, the current leak down test that is used to determine the condition of the engine is about 7%.
- The car has Auto Meter gauges - oil pressure, temperature, volt meter, etc. It does not have a tachometer - shifting is done using a shift light that is run off of the magneto.
- In order to run Methanol through the engine, the engine is fitted with a 4 barrel Holly 1000 CFM carburetor. It can be fitted for gasoline, but Methanol runs cooler and provides more power. Because the rail is burning Methanol, it is fitted with a Holly Black Fuel Pump along with braided hoses.

- This rail runs in the 9's to low 10's. You could win every Nostalgia Race or Bracket Race you enter the car in IF you make all of the correct driving decisions in the correct order. Races in the categories this car races in are won by the .001 seconds.
- The car was NHRA certified last month. It is ready to take home and race in your favorite location! When it was raced at Woodburn, Oregon on the July 4th weekend, it was discovered that the seat belts were out dated. Therefore, the rail now has brand new seat belts that are certified for the next two years. Another current safety feature on this great machine!!
- There are no brakes on the front wheels.

- The rear wheels, with 17"x 33" rear tires, have Wilwood disc brakes. Wilwood brake kits consist of specifically engineered and matched groups of components designed to provide superior brake system performance over a wide range of applications and they work great on this Dragster. However, if the rear wheels/Wilwood brakes don't stop you, the parachute will.

And finally, if the Wilwood brakes and the parachute do not stop you as soon as needed, check out the great Chrome Molly roll cage!
- The 410 posi Powerglide transmission attaches to a Ford 9 inch rear end that sports Greg Mosier axles. The transmission is connected to the rear end using a coupler - not a U-joint. The thought of a U-joint in the area we are talking about makes me shudder!
- Here is what the driver sees or sits next to in the cockpit.

Additional items of vital interest are as follows:
- The engine has a JW Bell housing that matches the Powerglide transmission up to the Ford block.
- The Powerglide two speed transmission has an 8 inch 4500 stall convertor. If you do not like to "pop the clutch" to get the car rolling, it comes with a "transbrake switch" that is located on the left side of the steering wheel. The "transbrake switch" is not currently hooked up, but it can easily be hooked up if this is the preferred way you would like to "get the car rolling" in a race.
- The car comes with a Billot flexplate.
- The dragster has a 119" wheel base.
- The engine has a reduction gear drive starter so the car doesn't need a tow car to move it into position. You can drive it yourself.
- The rail has an Optima battery, an ND one wire alternator and it has a vertex magneto ignition . Best of all, the dragster has its own cooling system. It is located just in front of the fuel tank and it consists of an A/C condenser, an electric water pump and a fan. No tow vehicle is needed to move this racer around the track, the cooling system allows the driver to drive it when and where it is needed.
