1986 Startrans Chevy Bus
Listed for auction is a Handicap Accessible Shuttle Type Bus
I am listingh the bus for the widow of a dear friend that left us last December.
The bus was purchased 10/18/04, with 131,642 miles on the odometer, and now has 135,606 miles.
The bus was a realiable vehicle, and there have been several parts upgraded, or replaced to ensure that realibility.
It was primarly used as a means of personal transportation, and also used to pull the family owned race car, and
trailer on several occasions. The rear tires have less than 4,000 miles, and the front tires are around 45-50%,
with a lot of life still in them. The engine starts and runs great, and the transmission shifts well, and does
not leak.
Items replaced, installed, or rebuilt in the last 4,000 miles
- New dual exaust system
- New battery
- New rear shocks
- Rebuilt alternator
- Receiver type frame hitch
- Rear tires
- Rear springs
- Drive shaft carrier bearing
The bus is a 1986 Chevrolet chassis, with a Startrans bus conversion. It has a 350cuin GM
v-8 gas engine that runs very well. It has operational handicap lift, and seating for 8 adults.
At one time it would seat 18, but some of the seats have been removed and discarded to accommodate the wheelchair,
walkers, and other items my friend needed to travel.
Items of interest about the bus
- Operational wheelchair lift
- rear heater
- Fluorescent lighting in ceiling
- 135,606 miles currently
- 11,000btu 120v A/C window type air conditioner
- Sturdy built-in rack for a generator
- Electric main entry door fully operational
The bus is a very realible means of transportation, but does have some issues due to it's age.
- Dash and overhead A/C inoperative and lower assembly removed
- Framework of bus conversion rusty under floor
- Interior upholstery worn
- Some of the fabric stained on the inside
Although this bus served my departed friend's needs very well, it is not to the standards of a commerical bus.
If a person is faced with mobility problems and needs an inexpensive vehicle to make local area trips, this bus
will suit them well. To consider this bus as a church, or activity bus for local transportation, you would
need to use your own judgement for that purpose. This bus would also make an inexpensive camper with a few
modifications for a hunter, or fisherman.
The bus is for local pickup in Louisville, Kentucky only, with no shipping options considered. The payment will
be in cash only, no checks, with good title presented at time of sale. The vehicle can also be inspected locally
with an appointment in advance.
Now, the all important disclaimer:
Disclaimer: We are trying to give all the facts good and bad to help a potential buyer make an informed
decision.
Bidders are encouraged to ask any and all questions before considering purchase of this item. The bus has been
a realible vehicle, but that is not a warranty of future performance.
The bus is being offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
Thank you, and good luck bidding !!!!
