Yep, she's old but she has low miles (average 3k/year) and has a lot of life left in her. We've taken her around the USA (15,000 miles) with no problems in 1999. Haven't put that many miles on since then (maybe 1000 per year) for local camping.
The GOOD: Second owners, bought it in 1999 mostly since it can sleep six and still fits in most driveways and parking stalls. Strong Chevy 350, 4 barrel, Automatic (it does leak and use some oil - hey, it's got over 100k on the original engine). I had a special RV cam put in before the big trip around the States (rebuild the carb, went through the engine to be sure it'd get us around the States). Lots of bottom end power for going up hills. The radial tires (same brand the truckers use) have about half of the thread left on them. (It also has real rims, not the split rims it used to). Generator works great, but haven't needed to use it in years. It really does sleep 6 comfortably as our family of 6 lived in it for 2 months on our trip around the States (even room for all of the clothes and toys) - two in the standard class c slide above the drivers compartment, 2 in the standard drop down dining, and two in the rear double size (attachable wood extends rear seater into bed). ALL of the cushions were remade when we bought it from the previous seller. Has CD/Radio which includes one special speaker you can hang outside. Standard shower as part of the bathroom (never used it, I'm too big, but the kids did). Standard stove top and oven works great. The refrigerator is 3 way (gas, 12 volt and 110 volt) and gets cold enough to freeze ice to the fridge part of it. Standard roof A/C works great. I also put in a 12 volt auto-switcher with custom secondary battery..
The BAD: The power inverter does NOT recharge the battery. The 110 volts works great (powers the A/C, whatever is 110v). With the transmission cooler you have to wait a few minutes for the tranny fluid to warm up before it goes into gear (has always been that way - that is normal for this rig). Dash A/C works, but not as cold as it used to be (Most likely just needs Freon). The engine needs an extra quart of oil every 1,500 miles. Some tranny drops, but I haven't had to add very much tranny fluid over the years. The steps to the roof have a bent rung. I bought a replacement ladder, but it's straight, not curved, so you'd have to get it bent to replace it.
The UGLY: Could use a new paint job. There is some rust. I could have painted the rust spots and you'd never tell in the pics, but I'm very upfront with everything I sell. Mostly surface rust (that can be sanded out) like on the drivers side mirrors (see pic), the bigger areas are near the bottom of the front windshield on passenger side (see pic) and small rust hole on passenger door bottom (see pic). When the original owner put in the cab speakers and new wood on the overhead pull out sleeper, one of the screws was too long and scraped the wood (see pic). There is a storage box on the top of the RV, I took the top off, so if you want to use it, you'll need to add a top, or remove it - your choice.
The NON-EXTRA: I am NOT selling it with the awning. The awning has been removed (professionally by Camping World where I bought it). The awning is a 13' A&E Two Step I bought 5 years ago and 2 years ago I had it upgraded to the new hardware and new fabric. I've only opened it 4 times. These are $1500 awnings. Go to the A&E site to see how easy a Two Step is to open (yep, it's about 2 steps to open or close). Once you've owned a Two Step, you'll never go back to a standard awning. The winner of this auction has the option to buy the awning for $500 (or it'll just go up on eBay or Craigslist). Comes with the manual so you can install it yourself (or Camping World charges $80 for members to install). But if the auction goes over $3000, I'll throw the awning in for FREE!!!!!
The registration is due 7/2. If you're in California, that means you'll have to smog it as well. I have the smog paperwork from the last time in 2006 and it passed. It's passed every time with flying colors.
That's all I can think of. If you've got questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
I live 1 mile south of Disneyland, CA. I am selling this locally, so I reserve the right to remove it. |
