I call this racing car a Ninja-Ford, because it has an 1100cc Kawasaki Ninja engine and a Ford F-150 body, made of fiberglass and aluminum and about ¾ scale. The tube frame chassis is made by Pro Challenge. Total weight is 1300 pounds. I bought this car last year, spent about $5000 upgrading it, and only raced it once. Am selling on account of acquiring the historic Oldsmobile stock car I raced back in 1983.
It has a new Winters Quick Change rear end, with an extra set of gears making a total of four gear ratios. The gearbox is a 6-speed sequential, like the highest tech race cars. The rear suspension links have been beefed up and made adjustable. With its 13-inch slicks (with a spare set of wheels and tires), it handles like an open-wheeled car, but feels like a stock car from driver’s seat. It has fabricated aluminum interior and instrument panel, a Butler stock car seat, and a new OMP steering wheel.
I have about $15,000 invested in this car. It’s been totally set up for road racing, including big brakes with a bias adjustment for the driver. It has an SCCA logbook, having passed technical inspection to race last year. It ran well and finished 4th of 9 starters in the SPO class, quite good for the first time out. It’s great fun to drive, with its screaming 11,500 rpm redline. It’s also very distinctive and cool looking. It doesn’t take up much garage space, and is inexpensive to run and maintain, now that I’ve made all the upgrades.
It’s freshly painted, with a black hood, roof and doors, with big NASCAR-style numbers, and red fenders. The graphics say “Fast Guys, Rich Guys, and Idiots,” which is the title of a classic racing book that I wrote.
