I have reduced the reserve to an absolute steal for this truck, but I need to sell it now and need the space!
Wow - Only 5551 miles! This is the one you have been looking for!
Travel back in time and be the LUCKY winner of this RARE, clean, classic, original and stock IH 1310 1-Ton 4x4. It has a 10,000 lb GVW and is one of the toughest heavy duty trucks ever made. It is considered to be superior in many ways to other Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Jeep and Studebaker trucks of the same era. It will be sold at a very reasonable reserve, especially when compared to the price of a new truck today with the same specs.
This is a rare opportunity for a work ready truck that’s very hard to find in any usable condition, let alone barely broken in yet! It also has a transfer case mounted PTO already installed and is perfect for a dump, wrecker, grass fire truck or flatbed body.
I am the second owner and this truck truely has only 5551 actual miles and is not turned over or fully restored. The oil change sticker on the door states that Sept. 15, 1990 it had 5437 miles! I have cleaned up and repaired many things to make it better since I bought it last year. I had intentions of keeping it for a long time, however a new IH project requires me to find this one a new home soon.
Originally owned by a cement wall pouring company, it rarely saw any winter weather or salt since it had a conveyor system on it and was only driven locally to job sites. It was also garaged it’s entire life which certainly helped preserve it in exceptional original condition ~ like it’s been in a time warp!
From the rare original IH chrome front bumper, side mirrors, cab lights and 1971 rear view mirror to the original IH jack and handle behind the seat, this truck is as nice an original as you will find! You would search a long time to beat the condition of this truck that will always appreciate in value. Keep in mind that this tough 37 year old IH has been used in construction and shows normal signs of wear. It is not restored or intended for an up close truck show yet.
Engine & Drivetrain:
Mechanically, this truck was in excellent shape and all fluid levels were checked to be full.
- 304 V8 - fuel efficient, starts right up and has plenty of power, runs excellent and idles smooth. Excellent oil pressure. This same size engine powers many larger medium duty trucks.
- T-19 4-spd Transmission - heavy duty, shifts fine and clutch is firm.
- NP 205 Transfer Case - heavy duty and gear driven with PTO installed
- Dana 70 front axle - 4.88 gears, has complete new brakes rebuilt by previous owner including shoes, wheel cyls and hardware. Truck stops very well and all brakes have been adjusted up. It also has new oil wiper seals installed on the knuckle ends of the D70 and they are leak free.
- Spicer RA15 rear axle - extreme duty
- New LIFETIME WARRANTED muffler and new intermediate exhaust pipe.
- Heavy duty high capacity Bendix Westinghouse Tru-Flo 300 belt driven air compressor mounted under the hood which seems to be in good working order.
- Power steering and brakes
- Oil just changed and fully greased
Interior:
The fully complete interior and dash are in the best original shape that I have ever seen in a 37 year old truck! Dash top has no damage. The dash face has none of the typical mutilation and hole cutting for switches, radios, wiring, etc. that city trucks always suffer from.
Almost everything works like new on this truck including:
- Dash lights and high beam indicator
- Horn
- Heater and fan speeds
- Turn signals
- Windows, handles and cranks
- All exterior marker and parking lights
- Transfer case/4x4 indicator light
Tires and Wheels:
Front tires are brand new 7.50 -16 ($300) with 0 miles on them and the rear tires have great tread on them, although one has a small slice in the sidewall which has been fine, but needs mentioned. I have one additional 7.50-16 spare tire which is included with sale. All wheels have been updated to modern 16" rims from the original 16.5" split rims which are dangerous and obsolete. If you are planning to change the wheels and tires, I will buy this set back from you.
Body:
- Solid throughout with a few minor dents and blemishes and very little surface rust and corrosion from concrete.
- Paint is shiny and looks good but has many fine scratches and evidence of prior painted-on door lettering. Original IH color was white and it looks like it was painted once. I have brush touched many chips and surface rust around the fender edges where the paint was off.
- The doors open and shut like new and only have surface rust at the bottom.
- The front outer fenders have surface rust on the inside and the driver side has some minor rust on the forward fender lip.
- The inner fenders have some rust thru in places, but the hood opens fine at the hinges. I have oil sprayed up under the front fenders.
- Cab floor was surface rusted under the drivers side mat from moisture which I cleaned up and painted with rust inhibiting paint. A little sheetmetal rusted away from around the body mount access hole in the floor on the driver side, but the mount is fine and solid.
- The only other area rusted thru is the cowl vent drain area in the front firewall cab corners. This is a typical rust area on most D-series IH trucks. IH had a great design idea here - only a 2" x 3/8" drain on either side for the wiper cowl area. All it took was a single leaf or a few maple seeds and a little dirt to fall thru the vents and clog them up to let the rusting begin! This truck had years of cement dust down thru the cowl vents which then got wet and rusted thru both sides under the fender but not into the cab. (See photos) I fully cleaned them out and they could easily be covered over with a piece of sheet metal.
- Fuel tanks have had pin hole leaks and have been repaired before. The driver side tank is the only one useable at this time.
- Glass has a few scratches from the concrete and dust.
Frame:
- Fully greasable IH shackles, spring pins and mounts.
- All grease fittings take grease and are serviced.
- Rear frame has been cleaned and painted for protection.
- Rear crossmember is HEAVY DUTY 3/8" angle, ready for a dump pivot.
- Brand new Grote USA made tail & reverse lights and license plate holder.
I have the original IH line set ticket/built sheet to provide detailed information. Please call my cell at 330-212-8248 with intelligent detailed questions or to arrange to see the truck. I welcome and recommend inspection prior to the end of sale, as I have nothing to hide and what you see, is what you get.
This used truck, of course, is sold as is and where is with no warranties expressed or implied. No haggling, negotiating or backing out afer the final bidding closes: remember your winning bid is a binding contract. No deadbeat or zero feedback bidders. I reserve the right to end the auction early for local sale. Truck must be picked up within 30 days unless other storage deal is made.
$500 non refundable deposit is due with 48 hours of auction ending.
I also have many extra parts to work on these IH trucks including an 8 foot IH stepside bed that will fit this truck. I have included a photo of my '74 200 with the same specs and similar bed that I built.
I make no guarantees, but I see no reason not to be able to slowly drive this truck home anywhere. It is fully ready and I just changed the oil. Delivery may be available to states surrounding Ohio, so call my cell.
I intend to maintain my 100% positive feedback and I have nothing to hide, so bid with confidence. Thank you for your time and bids. You will be happy with your purchase!
