The Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation located in Lafayette Indiana is pleased to offer for auction with NO reserve a 1983 forty-foot bus. The manufacture of this bus is from the Gillig Corporation and is constructed primarily af heavy gauge steel with an aluminum lower exterior (below the rub-rails) and roof skin. The rest of the exterior skin is primarily mild to heavy gauge steel. The interior has a fair amount of stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum as well. Please note the wheels are aluminum and will only have single tires mounted for the rear. The drive train is powered by a Detroit diesel 6V-92 series engine with a "T" drive Allison automatic transmission. The engine is not running and needs a complete overhaul. There is no air conditioning installed on this bus. This retired bus from our fleet is primarily complete but is considered a salvage vehicle and will need to be towed from our lot. A title will be issued upon receipt of payment. The bus is being auctioned as is-where is and the buyer will be responsible for full payment and removal from our lot located at 1250 Canal Road, Lafayette Indiana, 47904 within ten day of the close of the auction.
