Austin A-40 2 door sedan
The 48 Austin brochures state on the internet that the car gets 40 miles to the gallon at 30 miles per hour.
Very original car was painted only once years ago. Paint is presentable.
Running car. Rear mechanical brakes work well. Front hydraulic brakes need work.
The odometer shows just under 39,000 that I believe to be original miles by looking at the original condition of the car, although I cant be certain.
The condition of the car shows no rust through the body although there is some peeling of the paint that has been touched up by the original owner but there is no rust right through.
Chrome grill and windshield chrome and chrome on hood is all in good condition. The bumpers are in fair condition.
Interior is all original leather. Front seats have wear through, as shown in photos. There is wear and tear but the framework is in good condition.
Headlights are the 5 inch style with original lucas glass fronts with bulb inserts. Rear taillights have been changed. I am not sure of what year they are but they appear different than the originals.
Hood ornament is in excellent condition.
The glass is all good.
Oh ! the Lucas wiring, is all original by looking at it. The gauges are all working, the headlights are working, the side indicators are not working, the wipers work but are very slow. To put it mildly the wiring needs improvement.
This car is an excellent car for restoration or just fix the front brakes and electrical and drive.
This Build sheet shown in the picture was done in 1988 all the numbers correspond to the car. There was a typo on
the sheet where the engine number is, instead of 338297 it is suppose to be 328297
