Item Description

1993 Lexus SC300, 6 Speed V160 Getrag, Garrett GT4094 Turbo, LSD

An extensive amount of modification has been performed on the vehicle and below is the end result. Of course, I will try my best to let you know about the car, although may take a moment of your time.

The car was originally purchased in 2004 and modifications began. The car was then sold to Josh (owner of First State Motorsports in Delaware) in 2006 where all the drivetrain and motor work done. The car then won a feature in Modified Magazine in the May 2007 edition. In 2008, I purchased the car back from Josh after a fresh rebuild of the motor, which was completed in June 2008.

Exterior

I will begin telling you about the exterior of the car, and save the goodies for a little later.

The car was originally a green 1993 SC300, but most of the 1993 exterior parts have been removed and replaced with updated pieces. The car currently has a front bumper from a 1999 SC300 and a rear bumper from Auto Couture. The taillights, side-skirts, and door moldings were purchased brand new from Carson Toyota and were on the 1997-2000 SC300s. The car was completely stripped, primed, and repainted Alpine Silver 199 (a Toyota color that was used for production on several other vehicles but never on an SC300). The doors were taken off and the window moldings were removed to ensure the car was professionally painted. The headlight housings are original, however, they have been retrofitted with Acura TSX projectors for one of the best high intensity discharge setups available. The bulbs and ballasts have also been installed. This differs from the cheap plug and play HID setups by offering a true, factory made and designed, HID installment.

Interior

Every aspect of this car has been extensively worked on, including the interior. The interior of the car is black. I do prefer the interior of the car to look as original as possible, but some modifications were necessary to make. There are three gauges installed in the center console that inform the driver of boost, oil pressure, and voltage information. The AEM computer has been tucked away on the passenger side, close to where the original computer was, and is not visible. There is a 6 point roll cage in the car that was powder-coated black to look discreet. It was welded to the frame of the car; the entire interior was removed prior to installment of the roll cage. All interior parts can be removed and reinstalled while the roll cage is in the car.

Wheels & Tires

Wheels apparently “make the car”. These wheels have been specifically chosen and manufactured for the Lexus SC300. They were a custom setup made per order by CCW. The car is also featured on the CCW website, please click on “classic” if you choose to click on the CCW link I provided. The wheels are CCW Classics with widths and offsets as follows: the front wheels are 18x10 +24mm and the rear wheels are 18x11 +32mm. They are 18”, 3-piece forged aluminum, with SS ARP bolts holding the face of the wheel in place, with shotpeened and anodized spokes. They were purchased brand new from CCW, and if you ever need repairs done on the wheels, I am in the customer database so they can pull up all the original specs of the wheels in case you need a replacement or if you wanted to purchase a spare. The current rear tires on the car are BFG Goodrich KDWs and have approximately 2000 miles on them. No burnouts have been made on them and there is plenty of life still left in them.

Brakes & Suspension

It ridiculously dangerous to have a fast car with a poor brake setup. The Lexus SC300 originally came with a poor 2-piston front and 1-piston rear setup. The original brakes have been replaced with LS400 4-piston calipers up front with new rotors and the rears have been replaced with 2-pistion Toyota Supra calipers (and yes, for those who are wondering, the Supra logo is on them), with new rotors as well. Stainless steel braided lines by Goodrich were fitted on all four calipers and brake fluid was changed. Suspension is also a very important thing in my book. I always love the idea of ride adjustability so I put Tein Flex coilovers on the car. They made a dramatic difference and are 14-way adjustable in terms of softness/hardness, and ride-height can be adjusted to very low to very high. However, on a 1993 car, there was more to do than just coilovers. The rubber bushings were deteriorated, so we fitted Daizen polyurethane ones on all the control arms. Steering is now tight and really fun.

Engine

Okay enough nonsense. We know that all the preceding is not why you’re here. The car has undergone major surgery and below is the masterpiece. From the fuel setup, to the turbo, to the transmission, and the tune… Josh and his team at First State Motorsports have built a true masterpiece. The Full-Race exhaust manifold is a work of art, being the only Robotic TIG welded turbo manifold on the market. Manifolds are custom built to order and retail for $2399.00. The care has also been featured on the Full-Race website and can be seen here. Two TIAL wastegates have been fitted, both with 16.5psi springs. Another beauty is the FSM custom intake manifold with the 90mm Wilson Manifolds throttle body. Or perhaps you think the Garrett GT4094R ball bearing turbo assembly is the real beauty. I’ll leave it up to you. The shortblock was completely taken apart and resurfaced, with the addition of brand new JE pistons and crank polishing in June 2008. It is fresh and ready to be driven.

Transmission

The best transmission ever made, hands down. The 6-Speed V160 Getrag was manufactured for the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo MKIVs, and is extremely sought after for their reliability and strength. Ratios: 1st gear (3.830:1), 2nd gear (2.360:1), 3rd gear (1.680:1), 4th gear (1.310:1), 5th gear (1:1), 6th gear (0.790:1). A stock TT flywheel was put in, and the original clutch was replaced with a Competition Clutch Stage 5 Pressure plate and Ironman Clutch. A custom DSS driveshaft was necessary and the GS400 3.26 LSD only completed the setup.

The car has dynoed at 700.1RWHP before the motor was rebuilt. JE pistons and a new shortblock are currently were the latest additions to the car in June 2008. Boost has been set at 16.5psi since the rebuild. At 16.5psi, the car dynoed at 564RWHP. The boost can be turned up, but I was satisfied with 564RWHP.

Here is a video of the car being dynoed: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T6ziCvIwuKk&feature=user

This was before the motor was rebuilt in June 2008. However, it is the same exact setup aside from new forged pistons :-)

There are no foglights on the car. The 1997-2000 SC300s have foglights, but they were never installed on this car once the conversion went underway. Also, the air conditioning does not work. However, all the AC components are still in the car, it was not deleted. I am sure than an AC specialist would be able to figure it out.
