On the good side, this car passed state emissions and safety inspection on June 19, 2008, and it is good for sixty days. This inspection was done 48 miles ago. The license plates were never renewed, so the license plates have expired. The transmission is working fine I bought it in 2003 with 3686 miles, and it has never been in an accident. It has a quarter tank of gas. Right now the engine runs and the car is drivable, but I don't know if it still will after ten feet, ten miles or ten thousand miles before the head gasket fails. The bad: It has a leaking head gasket. There is oil in the coolant, which means there's probably water in the oil. It also is burning coolant at a rate of one gallon in 1000 miles. It has never overheated, but the temperature gauge rises to normal too quickly. Probably, the cylinder that is burning the coolant is scuffed up, as is the piston rings, the rod, main and camshaft bearings are probably scorched, as is the crankshaft and camshaft. In other words, it needs a whole new engine rebuild. E-mail me if you would like to come by and see the van. It and I are located in suburban St. Louis. Payment is by cash or Cashier's Check.
