Item Description
EXCEPTIONAL GMC NEW LOOK COACH, ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE
Vehicle Description

1967 GMC TDH 4519 factory original coach.  Equipped with 6V-71 Detroit Diesel, VH-9 two speed Allison automatic transmission, air conditioning, and 45 transit type seats.

This coach was ordered new by Evanston (IL) Bus Company, and sold in 1973 to Sacramento Regional Transit.  EBC had ordered these coaches for local transit service but also charters, and equipped them with high speed rear ends, max. speed 60 mph.  Classic interior includes Aqua Fantasy ceiling panels and dark green Spanish grain covers on American Model 6426 seats.

Coach is in good running condition.  Engine is strong with almost no blow-by, but smokes until warmed up.  The smoke comes from the #2 cylinder on the upper bank and could probably be corrected with new rings, or at worst a liner kit.  Or you might choose to live with it as I have done.  Recent engine oil analysis shows no contamination.  Transmission is excellent, rear end is quiet.  All engine accessories seem good.  A/C is complete, and would have been well maintained at Sacramento.  It will need charged, and probably new compressor seal.  Rear tires are excellent, fronts are fair but fine for transporting.  New batteries in 2007.

Body is unusually straight, glass is good, seats are way above average.  Rear cross seat back needs foam, but looks perfect.  Interior panels are good, except a slight crack in one ceiliing panel.  Exterior was painted in 1973 and needs repaint.  Sides could be stripped to reveal original anodized aluminum finish, probably in excellent shape.  Standee window rubber needs replaced.  Floor is solid.  Floor covering is decent, but could use new entrance plate and step treads, available from R.C.A. Rubber.  Destination sign door needs repair.

This classic is in rare condition overall.  I know I can't control who buys it, but it deserves to be preserved if not restored.  Comes with emergency spare tire and wheel, Coach Final Vehicle Record, Maintenance Manual and Supplement and complete wiring diagrams.  Road ready, and I'd be happy to deliver it if time permits.  Requires $500.00 deposit within three days of end of auction, balance in cash or cashier's check within ten days of end of auction but before pickup.  Will store at no charge until September 25, 2008.  Don't hesitate to call with questions.  Tom, (509) 465-9938.
