Dixie Craft – 1970 - 18 ft, 2.5L Mercruiser four cylinder 120 HP Sterndrive I/O
This beautiful 1970 Dixie Craft pleasure boat and trailer are up for auction. The boat has had extensive work done by the local vocational school over the past three years. The engine has been completely rebuilt. The seats have been recovered; the top of the boat has been repainted. The trailer has been custom made and painted. I bought the boat and took it to Laural Lake. The first time out after an hour or so the engine started overheating. I had the engine checked and found the head gasket to be blown. The head gasket was replaced and the engine was run on a pair of ears for the water supply. The U-Joint came loose in the gimble housing and caused damage. I ordered a replacement gimble housing that included the lower unit as well. The part does not fit the opening in the back of the boat. I am moving with my job, and this is just one of my projects that I am going to have to let go. I don’t like to think of the money that I have tied up in this boat.

Photo 1039, 1039 was intended to show a cover I made for the boat. Nothing fancy but it’s included and works.
Photo’s 1040 – 1048 shows the trailer. I cannot find a tag on it to identify the manufacture, It may have been built by the vocational school welding shop.
Photo’s 1049 -1072 shows the exterior and interior of the boat. The boat has one small soft spot in the floor which would be in front of the seat pictured in photo 1055. Photo’s 1073 – 1078 shows the engine compartment. The engine is loose and was slid back to access the damaged area. All of the bolts are in the coffee can.
Parts in photos 1079 through 1085 are some parts that came off of the boat. The shaft in 1089 caused all the damage.
Parts in photos 1086, 1087, 1088, 1090, 91, 92, 93, 94 , 95 and 1096 are all parts that were bought and ship to me that are great parts but they won’t fit the opening in the back of the boat. The parts in photo 1097, 98 and 1099 came off of the boat. Parts in photo 1100 are both off of the boat and parts that were bought.
Parts in photo’s 1101 and 1102 are parts that were replaced when the engine was rebuilt by the vocational school.
This boat and trailer are sold with a bill of sale only.
The boat and parts will have to be picked up. I can make arraignments to meet at Corbin, Kentucky Interstate 75 at exit 29. I will pull the boat up to 400 miles or so, to you from Pineville, Kentucky for 1.00 per mile.
This boat turns heads and when I had it at the lake I received a lot of comments on how beautiful it was.
I have the frame for the center of the windshield and plexiglas to go in it.
I will intertain reasonable offers and trades on a motorcycle?
