It is designed, manufactured, and built here at Starr Air Craft in Dayton Mn. It produces 35 HP on 87 octane pump Gas, 40 on Alcohol. RPM range from 900 to 9800. These engines are the  result of 35 years in the Racing industry, they are battle tested at the USRA Championship Air Races and the R/C Model Airplane industry. This engine is designed and manufactured to the strictest of tolerances for the correct Expansion and Contraction of the moving parts so they produce  power and not friction and drag for the discerning Pilots, Designers and builders. It is Blue printed, balanced, and weighs in at a remarkable 13.5 lbs. ( 216 oz.) It is  CNCd from American  2024 T 351 Aircraft Grade Aluminum Billets. The 3 piece crankshaft is CNCd from 4340 steel Billets and case hardened, and welded.  The bore is 66 mm, the stroke is 42 mm. Dual Walbro W39s are standard. For Alcohol use, they are modified by the designer of Tillitson Carburetors, EC Burt. It will fly your Super Giant model, USRA Racer, PPGs, UAVs and Ultra Lites. The 280 Deluxe Has V Force Case Reed Induction, with Moto Tassanari 8 petal Carbon Fiber Reeds. This engine is  hand assembled, not a mass produced Chinese special. The Black Flame 280 Deluxe is the Rolex of all Lite weight power houses, and thats why we warranty them for the life of the engine. If this engine breaks we will repair or replace it at  no charge period. The TBO of this engine depends on the work they do.My first proto type has 1500 hours with much abuse from time to time and is getting stronger every day. This engine is designed to be parts compatible with the World famous "Herbrandson  289 Dyad Engine"...( Herbrandson engines.com)" that provided Our Military with engines for a 250 lb Drone for 20 years. The Black Flame 280 comes in 3 versions: Sport, Ultra lite, and an all out Racing version with  Titanium connecting Rods, Alcohol Carbs  Ported and Polished cylinders. This engine produces 45 hp and will turn a 36 pitch propeller at 8800 rpms. The PPG, Ultra Lite, UAV version can have a shaft at the back of the engine for starters alternators ect.
