Wisconsin VIN and Title.
The electrical system has been re-done. Along with the new,
color-coded wire harness, included is a 3 page excel spreadsheet,
including the .xls file documenting the new harness,
in painstaking detail. There are no Lucas circuits nor components.
The front sway-bar has solid machined aluminum bushings.
The tail pipe was shot, tossed.
This GT– 6 began being in 1970. The body is original.
There is no corrosion on the body or the frame. The frame
measures out straight and true. There is nothing to indicate
that it was ever involved in any collision. However, the extra front clip,
doors, etc., are good insurance for the future.
The car began racing at Mid-Ohio. It was later brought to Wisconsin,
where it raced at Blackhawk and Road America/Elkhart Lake.
The differentials are for both tracks – low speed for club tracks
and pylon racing and high speed for circuits like Road America/Elkhart Lake.
The last time it was raced was in 2005. I bought it June 1st, 2006
with the idea of doing a major restoration before returning it to action.
It is approximately 40% disassembled, on it’s way towards restoration.
It is an excellent, complete project, with true vintage historic racing upon completion.
The car, in general terms: The GT– 6 was manufactured to
essentially be a coupe version of a Spitfire, except with a TR-6 engine
instead of the Spitfire’s 4 cylinder. With that factory production,
hybrid configuration it turned out to be a great racer in historic and vintage classes.
There is a huge permanent following of this car in England and the US.
Information and all stock parts are readily available.
Under the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association, the VSCDA, it runs under
Group B2 – Historic Production GTU through 1973, 1500cc - 2000cc.
Under the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, the SVRA, it races in
Group 3 Historic Vintage.
