Up for auction is a 1969 model Sears aluminum 14' vee-hull boat. It is in great condition for it's age, and take to water well. It handles like a dream (as in, full speed ahead, then sharp 90-degree turns - excellent!). It doesnt have any major dings, just a couple small ones from putting it in the water from land on the underside. I recently scotch-brited the entire outer surface to restore some of the original gleam. I was able to remove most of the oxidation, but it could still use some polishing to look new. The boat and motor have never been used in slatwater!
The motor is a corresponding 1969 Johnson 6HP outboard, with a completely rebuilt carburetor, new points, condensors, plugs, wires, fuel pump, and filter. All parts were genuine Johnson/Evinrude. It runs like a champ, usually first pull. It pushes the boat excellently with one person (boat nose in the air), and planes really nice with two people. It squirts water out of the water hole like it should, and runs nice and cool. It comes with a new style plastic tank with new line and primer.
The trailer was built by Murray Boat Trailers of Lawrenceville GA, in 1972. The tires are old, of course, but they hold air and seem to work fine. The taillight wiring is in pretty bad shape (not working), and the whole trailer is pretty rusty. It was the only thing left outside in the open since '73, as the boat and motor were tucked away inside a garage since then.
If anyone is looking for a classic aluminum boat, this one has a beautiful shape to it, and wouldnt need much polishing to get it looking really good again. I've taken it out on the water probably ten times in the past year, and it performs flawlessly. I have registration for the boat, and the original paper for the trailer, since I bought it from the original owner. If you have any other questions, let me know, thanks!
