I am selling my 1998 POLICE INTERCEPTOR that I spent a lot of time installing extra options that these cars do not come with. Hopefully it will be just right for someone. I will describe this car as best and as detailed as possible. This was a former Mass State Police car with 107k on the clock. I acquired it with 100k.
Exterior: Complete repaint (jams also) in Aug 07 in "Deep Wedgewood Blue" paint. Rims repainted black. New headlight assemblies. New "Eagle RSA" V rated tires at 100k. All chrome fascia, grill, taillights, door handles replaced with newer blacked out trim. No holes in sheetmetal except where antenna is located on trunk (does not come with antenna). No rust/rot. Does not appear that this car was in any major accidents. Spotlight works. Paint has some blemishes but could probably be buffed out. New "POLICE INTERCEPTOR" emblem and Ford oval on trunk.
Mechanical: New starter, belt tensioner, windshield, multifunction switch all replaced between 100 and 107k miles. Engine runs great with no knocks but does have either exhaust donut gasket leak or manifold gasket leak but is minor. Transmission shifts perfect. Coolant flush and transmission service done at 100k. Oil changed every 3k. Brakes have plenty of meat on them but will need rotors because they are getting warped. E-brake needs new shoes. Front end components are tight. Just had it aligned after new tire install. Looks like the front tyrod ends were replaced before I got the car. New rear police coil springs.
Interior: Nice plush comfortable interior with rug. Rug does have some wear and a cut in the hump probably for equipment install. Seats and doorpanels have no rips/tears. Dash has no holes. I installed the "bug eye" map lights that were deleted in 96 or 97. I also installed a Gentex auto dim mirror with temp and compass. Comes with Sirius Satellite radio (subscription required). Audio system was completely upgraded with "Infinity Kappa" 100w speakers all around powered by a Alpine 400 watt 4 channel amp, 2 "Kicker" 15 inch 400 watt each subs in trunk powered by a mono Alpine 800 watt amp. All speaker wires were upgraded to thicker gauge. I cannot even turn the radio up halfway without it being too loud! THIS SYSTEM WILL BLOW YOU OUT OF THE CAR! The sirius satellite tuner transmits to the radio through the antenna wire NOT THROUGH THE AIR eliminating static. It is done using a converter box direct from Sirius. The radio head unit is a stock Ford single disc unit that was used in Ford trucks around 2001 2002 and maybe later. I wanted to keep the stock look but you can always upgrade to an aftermarket. The RCA jacks are right under the dash and I had to use a Line output converter so I could use the factory unit. You won't need the LOC if you go with an aftermarket unit. I also installed alternating red flashers in the trunklid that the State Police originally had that come on when the trunk is opened. All instrument panel bulbs were replaced.
Summary: Keep in mind that this a 100k plus used police vehicle and is not perfect and subject to mechanical failure at any time. I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge.
