This is one of the best trailers I've come across in all my years (45+) collecting military vehicles. It is an original Willy's 1/4 ton trailer. Date of Delivery 12-42 with blue registraion number 0216315 serial number 14623. It has very little rust on the inside bottom and underside of the trailer body. It has been cleaned and coated with a light undercoating to protect it. A light coat of 34088 has been applied on the top side of the trailer and fenders. All the parts are here and in working condition including the parking brake. The pintle is the the early thin style, not the M-100 style you see on most restored trailers. It has the original combat wheels (cleaned and painted) mounted with 600x16 NDCC tires. It has the original round reflectors with new inserts. The landing leg lock spring is broken and will have to be replaced. The chains and hooks are intact, but one chain looks to be a replacement as it is thicker in cross section. The wiring has been replaced but it is not hooked to blackout switch yet. The blackout switch is complete. It has the original 6 volt lights which have 12 volt bulbs in them . The original trailer connector cord has been reconditioned to working order with an excellent cable(green). The wheel bearings are still packed in excellent conditon black military grease. It comes with a used Beachwood brand canvas tarp cover. All of the sheet metal is in excellent condition except for some waves in the trailer floor between cross members (typical). Fenders and sides are in excellent shape. It has the original tail panel that has never been cut.
It had a large assortment of military markings on the body:
4th "star" CAAF 433 BU - This may be 4th Air Force, Castle Army Air Base, Base Unit 433
XXVI 597 S - unknown origin
SCH 1920 ADM-T 35 - This may be SCHOOL 1920 ADMINISTRATION-TRAILER #35
4th "star" 328 O 327 F - This may be 4th Air Force 328th Observation Squad 327th Fighter Group (attached to 26th Fighter Command, Panama)
OAKLAND 9TH SERVICE COMMAND 40-44 with a white 9 point wheel marking on forward body
The extra markings on the trailer were added by me for war games and parades.
It had a 1949 California plate on it and had not been used or registered since the 1950's when I got it in 2001. It has been stored inside for most of its life. It has NOT BEEN RESTORED, but has had some reconditioning. It does not have a title and will come with a bill of sale. Think hard on this one as it is unlikely another one of this condition will turn up. Except for a matching engine number, this is the single hardest item to find for a WW2 Jeep.
FOB Reno, Nevada. Will not deliver, can be towed if vehicle has a pintle style hitch.
