1929 Austin
12-4 Heavy Tourer
I am selling this vehicle for a friend. All information
comes from him and is accurate to the best of his knowledge; however, some
portions cannot be verified and should be viewed in that light.
This is a 1929 Austin 12-4 Heavy Tourer. The story is that
it came to the USA from Australia with
an American serviceman in 1953. It ran when my friend parked it in his shop in the
early 1990s, but has not run since. It is in good condition, but has been
sitting in his shop all that time, with of bunch of semi-wild cats running
around and various items stored in it for varying periods of time. It does not
run at this time and neither he nor I have any idea what it will take to make
it run again. We tried to start it a few months ago, but were unsuccessful. He
thinks he may not have had the magneto switched on, but we don’t know. It may
be a simple, cheap task to make it run, or it may be complex and expensive.
Bear that in mind when considering purchasing this vehicle. The photos show
what is there with the exception of the “side curtains” which he has, tucked
away in a corner of the shop the car is sitting in. They, of course, go with
it. I have been told by people that know about these cars that it should have a
plate with ID information on the running board, towards the door, but it
doesn’t. I don’t know if it ever had them, and if it did where they are now.
There are none with the car.
This car is being sold as is where is with absolutely no
warranty of any kind, implied or expressed. If you win the bid, you have
entered into a legally binding contract to purchase the vehicle for the agreed
upon price. Please feel free to ask questions if you have them- I will do my
best to answer them, but bear in mind that one, neither I nor the owner know
that much about the vehicle, and two, it is 35 miles away from where I live. I
will gather questions as this week progresses and go to where the vehicle is (San Angelo, Texas, 80
miles south of Abilene
on US 277) this coming Saturday to gather answers. I will then post the answers
on the same day the auction ends. I will make a special trip for serious
inquiries, but not for tire kickers. I have several more pictures that I can
provide to any who want to see them.
The mileage shown is just a number I put there because I had to put something. Actual mileage is unknown.
This is a no reserve auction.
This car is for sale locally and via other media so the
auction may end at any time, for any reason. I will take cash or a cashiers check, but if the latter the vehicle does not go anywhere until the check clears.
