Item Description

You are bidding on a customized BMW K100 touring bike.  It is 1000cc and very fast (the dial says 160mph, but I have never ridden it that fast).  If ridden gently it should get 50MPG or better and would make an excellent commuter bike for the city.  I have put about 8000 miles on it and it rides very comfortably!

The original owner was a machinist who took immaculate care of the bike.  He disabled the first-generation ABS system (said he did not trust it) and converted it to manual brakes.  He claimed to have given it meticulous maintenance, including changing the valve caps at 10,000 mile intervals.  When I bought the bike it had several custom items which include a K75C-style front fairing and windscreen; front footpegs for cruising comfort; a very comfortable custom Corbin seat with a fold-down passenger seat back; and a Remus tailpipe (the loudest aftermarket pipes available I am told - for safety in the city).

The bike comes with the original BMW hard saddlebags (slightly leaky - a small amount of water does get in during rainstorms) and a newer Marsee tank bag.  It also has two level (low/high) heated grips for those cold fall days (very handy I can tell you!).  The front tire is used (still has plenty of tread) and the rear tire is almost new - both are top quality Metzlers.  Last year I installed a new OEM BMW battery.  There is a very slight oil leak which is captured by a bottle under the bike.  The paintjob does show some aging and kind of reminds me of my own grey hairs (my wife tells me that they look good - she is kind).  The original owners manual and a Clymer maintenance manual also come with the bike.

I can arrange to ship the bike anywhere in the lower 48 states as long as you pay the shipping cost and a $50 handling or drop-off fee (my zip is 80452). See www.uship.com, www.shipvehicles.com, www.shippingmasters.com, or www.haulingdepot.com for some cost options.  Buyer will post a $500 deposit (or less if the bidding is low - I will start this with a $0.99 price and no reserve) within 24 hours of auction closing and pay the remaining within one week of auction close.  I will deliver the bike upon full payment.  Paypal or US Post Office Money Orders are preferred.

Feel free to email me at <planetminer@gmail.com> with any questions.
