Description
I'm listing this classic 1973 Opel GT for a customer. He has over $10,000 invested as well as a lot of time. Please read the description in its entirety and bid accordingly. No back seats, front seats vinyl with cloth covers and are in good shape. Will need carpet.

ENGINE
Powered by a Ford 302 c.i. engine; (All Work done less than 500 miles ago) complete head job, Ported heads (especially exhaust ports-really hogged out), pinnted rocker posts; Competition Cams roller rocker arms; Ford SVO hydraulic competition cam; new lifters; Melling high volume oil pump; oil filter relocated to clear steering; oil cooler with thermostatically controlled valved installed. Oil capacity is about 6 quarts. Engine mounted in chassis with anti-torque mounts. Rebuilt Carter Quadrajet (yes that's correct, off a Chevy 427). The engine is canted higher on the drivers side to clear the steering gear. It is equipped with an anti-torque system consisting of a reworked motor mount from a Chevette. Spark is provided by a Ford Electronic distributor with Accel Super Coil controlled by MSD 6 Electronic ignition. Engine had about 70,000 miles on it when installed in car. New clutch and pressure plate/throwout bearing; new starter; new alternator; new voltage regulator; custom single belt drive system with accessories relocated lower for hood clearance; has air conditioner system installed. Engine is located back in chasis so that front pulley is over the front end compared to original engine. New water pump; Engine is cooled by 3 radiators - two in front and one in the rear, cooled by 2 electric fans. Estimated horsepower is between 25- and 275.

TRANSMISSION
New bell housing from SVO; rebuilt 4 speed RAN transmission from an 82 mustang. 4 speed synchronized overdrive 4th gear with 30% overdrive giving a final drive of .7.

DIFFERENTIAL
Ford 9" from 72 Maverick. 3.00 open (not posi) gear ratio. 11" brake drums; New brakes; Final drive ratio in 4th gear of 2.10 - cruise at 70mph at about 2500 rpm. Rear brake to front brake bias is controlled by adjustable proportioning valve located under drivers seat - just like expensive race cars. Emergency brake is controlled by original console handle. Rear end is mounted in chassis by original geometry that the original differential had - with a couple of exceptions - the Panhard rod is adjustable for rear tracking. Original coil springs have air bags installed within them with remote air valves, along with Gabriel strider shocks. Custom made shortened welded and balanced drive shaft.

WHEELS
Comes with 4 ea. 4 lug 13x6 Western Turbine mag wheels and Reiken 205xH60 radial tires. 2 are mounted on the front of the car. Rear end of car has Ford lug 14x6 wheels and 185x70 radials. 4 extra Ford 14x6 welded wheels (without tires) can be included if you want them.

OPEL GT CHASSIS
The "tunnel" for the transmission and driveline is made of 1/16 inch stainless steel, reformed for structural strength, and has been widened considerably to make room for the engine/transmission. Being moved back in the chassis. (The crankshaft pulley sits over the front axle.) The 73 Opel GT was the last year that Buick imported the car. It was the only model with rear window vents that opened. The 73 model did not come with anti-sway bars, but I've added "ADCO" sway bars both front and rear. It makes a good handling car handle even better. The rear-end geometry is described under differential. The front end of the Opel GT came with "buggy spring duspension" - 2 transverse leaf springs and tube shocks. I've upgraded the front suspension with an additional heavy duty leaf spring and high pressure gas shocks that also fit Pontiac T-1000. New disks and semi-metallic pads in front combined with the Ford 11 inch rear drums and the adjustable proportioning valve make panic stops a snap. The front wheels are 4 lug pattern 13" while the back is 14" 5 lug Ford pattern. (I have two extra 13" mag wheels for the front with used tires mounted). I have the conversion adpaters to convert the front end to Ford 5 lug if you desire to have the same size wheels and tires all around. The front end has a custom made air dam. (I have an EMPI fiberglass "whale tail" for the rear if you desire more of a racing look). The rear wheel wells have fiberglass flairs from a Camaro grafted on to cover the wider Ford rear end and rear wheels. The Opel GT did not have a frame but is a unibody design. I bolted bed rails to the chassis for maximim extra strength, and minimum of weight. I also strengthened the engine compartment with Aluminum angle bracing across the engine compartment, just like the Monte Carlo bars Carroll Shelby used in the road racing mustangs. As a matter of fact, that's where the idea came from to build a wild Opel GT anyway. Styled like a mini Corvette and the same kind of handling found in a Cobra. Headlights have been upgraded to halogen H-4's along with wiring upgrades.

SHOP MANUALS
Comes with complete shop manuals with wiring diagrams. Additional Clymer service manual included along with all records of parts used in conversion.
